"Compression is a much more subtle process than adding an effect such as delay or reverb, so you may have to play around more before you feel you have enough experience to get the results you want. Dynamic control is a key element in modern music production, whatever the style, so give yourself time to learn, and be aware that different types of compressor can produce very different subjective results. If you have a digital compressor with factory presets, look at the way the presets are set up and try to figure out why the designers chose those parameter values" (quote)
