I spent the autumn totally concentrating on making an album out of all the half-ready songs I had piling up. I ultimately found out how to properly adjust the bass vs kick frequencies. And I also got some good advice from my friend <a href="http://www.myspace.com/cosmichippy" title="myspace.com/cosmichippy" target="_blank">Unhinged dj,</a> who spend much time analysing the structure of psychedelic trance music. Finally I managed to pin point the proper harmonics within the selected songs for the album. Why 'proper'? Well, for once I tried to stick to the rules by not trying to make any weird bass lines, to keep the flow of the song more linear. The result is a serious party psytrance track that is easy to get into, dance friendly. And with some funny and informative (pyramid power...) breaks. All I did to it was to add a bit more low and high freq to it as well as a tiny bit of stereo chorus (with the Waves VST called Enigma). My aim is to make (and remix) more songs into this more fluent style and thereby, perhaps, finally, reach a production level that allows for getting more gigs based on QPA's songs, not 'only' as a dj who mostly plays other artists productions. I hope you're doing great. Me? As usual I've been busy trying to make some new psy sounds. This is the latest news from the qubenzis.com web-site. Unless you visited the website very recently you might find this info interesting. Please enjoy. News: Two new songs and a few new cool samples uploaded. Some wicked Psy Bass Wavs. And 2 Break Beat loops (extracted from the new version of UfoNaut). Plus an introduction to Groundzeroprojects.com dj, producer and music-junkie network [New Song] - Secret Language - This song was the result of the natural development that occurred when re-mixing another track called Vital Wavelength. Since I don't like that song I simply had to either trash it or see if I could do something else with it. Secret Language is not final though, I feel it still can be improved. Comments welcome... What I did was increasing the tempo from 141bpm to 146bpm plus adding a proper kick. And before I knew it the new song Secret Language started to take shape. I seriously distorted some of the 'nice' melody synth sounds (with the VST called 'Predatohm' from the Wave Mercury bundle ). Then I remade the bass line, not much though, but more like letting the bass remain in only a few basic harmonies rather than having it change all the time. I think Vital Wavelength was a weak attempt to make 'Full On' trance and I'm about to delete it from the web site. The structure and instrumentation is basically the same as previously. Now it became a wicked and very funky track that I most probably will pass on to the upcoming album, as is. It's sort of progressive trance track, 8:47min, 146bpm. I guess some would call the style something like 'neo beat'. Though, honestly, I still find it hard to categorize the tracks I make. Audacity is a free fully equipped <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_source" title="Wikipedia about Open Source">Open Source</a> audio editing program and with the Audacity VST plugin you can also use it with your VST's. If you use Windows you have to install it manually by dropping the lame_enc.dll into your C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder and then have the programs find it. Audacity, iTunes, WIN MediaPlayer and other programs can be set to use LAME for mp3 conversion. The latest versions of Wavelab (5 and 6) also uses Lame. I tried it with WL5 but I prefer Audacity since WL created really weird mp3 files with the right channel much louder than the left (perhaps my computers fault..)
