KickMaker is a  free software synthesizer dedicated to making kick drums. It's created by the Teragon Audio open source project. While writing this I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like a promising VST that I relly could get use for.

1. TWEAK! its four independent oscillators
2. FILTER! those waveforms with ASDR envelopes
3. ADJUST! the timbre with ASDR fine tuning knobs
4. ENHANCE! the sounds with built-in compression
5. SLATHER! on other effects for a fully realized sound
6. SAVE! your settings as presets
7. LOAD! some of the preloaded presets to see what KickMaker can do

KickMaker is available for Mac or PC as a VST or AUdioUnit plugin.

This package contains several previously unreleased kick drums (about half of the content). These kick ass samples are collected from a few years of recording and producing various types of psychedelic trance music, as well as other electronic music genres.

Various (psy) kick drums specifically customized for psychedelic trance production. Most of the kick drum sounds are in mono and all are .WAV, 1.44Mhz, 16bit high resolution audio, perfectly suitable for electronic music production. Some of the files are one or two bar loops with (or without) effects.

psy-kick.wav info = 65Hz punch and the high end sloping down towards 6000Hz. This kick is bright and snappy. I call it the 'original' since I've done nothing to it (since I found it on a Tribe.net forum).

And, not to forget, pitch the kick a few steps up or down to suit the basic tuning of your track; then fine tune it with the Equalizer. If it crashes with the bass wedge the eq (like a very narrow "V") on the bass around 65hz (the exact frequency depends on your final choice of EQ and tuning of the psy-kick).

Apparently there's a VST plugin called Psy Kick VSTi v1.08 previously available for free on Hitsquad.com that is recommended for making good sounding kicks.
